Let's Thai it...Mission 13: Thailand

Too delicious to the extreme of gaining weight by having one big meal.

 Location: Adliya, block 338.
Group: Nazli, Sireen, Reem, Eman.
Rating: 9/10
Date: 24-12-2011

I didn't take a picture from outside but i'm sure you all know the place already. It's the one right infront of Meat Company. This is one of the Thai style rooms where you sit on the floor.

Menu. Bad looking but clear and organized with images.

Dining area overlooking Adliya

 Another room

Inside the menu

Tom Yum soup (sea food). Amazing amazing amazing. I wished that it would never finish. Spice level was perfect and sea food was well cooked and blended perfectly with the soup. A must try.

Thai Beef Salad. Spicy but one of the best we had.

Shrimp popcorn. I heard so much good review about it so i expected it to be better. It was nice especially with the sauce you're supposed to add on it.

Prawn Toast. Average.

Spring Rolls. Good. Tasted Thai and not Chinese which really matters.

Steamed Crabs with Garlic and Lemon. Delicious and easy to eat but not one of the best we had.

Vegetable Fried Rice. A bit oily but tastes good.

Chicken Green Curry. Excellent. The taste of the coconut is not strong which is a plus point for me.

Beef with Oyster Sauce. Very well cooked and delicious.

Pat Thai Noodles with chicken. Good.

Shrimps with Cashew Nut. Also excellent.

And finally, after eating insanely, some green tea to digest.

This was the killer. I was too full that i wasn't able to laugh out of lack of breathe but i had to try this although there was no space left for ANYTHING in my tummy. It was absolutely worth it. One of the best deserts i ever had in the whole wide world. Fried banana and ice cream. A MUST TRY.

A special spoon for the special desert. Was a reason to keep eating.

Bell to call the waitress.

It was a crazy night. All that good food for 4 people only. It was very hard to stop so we went on and on and on. It is by far one of the top best. Price was more expensive than our usual missions since we started with low class restaurants and now moving higher. Each paid around BD16. Perfect location, perfect food.

TOTALLY RECOMMENDED.

Let's Thai it...Mission 12: Yum Chow

A new fast food kind of Thai experience.

 Location: Gudaibya.
Group: Nazli, Sireen, Reem, Noor.
Rating: 5.5/10
Date: 21-12-2011

We got surprised when we saw the place. We were expecting something very low class but we found a Jasmis kind of thing!

Menu. It was here when we discovered that the place was Asian and not Thai. We tried our best to stick to Thai dishes but they had few only. They serve Combo meals. How cool!

Chicken Shanghai. Chinese but yummy. Loved how the sauce was already added instead of the dipping mess.

Wonton Chicken. Delicious.

Tom Yum Soup. It was supposed to be Sea Food but we couldn't find anything inside except for shrimps. Not the Tom Yum standard that we got used to. Very fast food kind of thing. It was not bad though. But like Noor said: "don't waste your time on it"

Beef Salad. A bit zesty. The beef was bad and chewy.

Sweet & Sour Chicken. Regular. Nothing special, nothing bad.

Seafood Sizzling. Tasteless.

Vegetable Fried Rice. Best dish. Recommended

Mongolian Beef. Very delicious, saucy and thick.

Beef Brisket Stew Noodles. Bad. We could't eat it. Not our thing.

Beef Sizzling. Extra order by mistake. Average.

And for dessert, Snow fruit roll. We were expecting fried bananas but it smelled like mango. We didn't figure out what it was.

Loved the take away bag.

Total bill = BD30

It was nice to experience fast food Asian cuisine, but because of the limited Thai dishes i felt like it was a waste of time. I didn't like the place/food and my rating was 3. But average of the group was 5.5. Plus all the Filipino Christmas hymens were very annoying.

Not recommended.

Let's Thai it...Mission 11: Pong

Excellent food but wrong orders all the way..

Location: Between Hoora & Exhibition Road.
Group: Nazli, Eman, Sireen, Reem, Noor.
Rating: 6/10
Date: 12-12-2011

Entrance

Menu. Good looking and clear in content but a bit unorganized. We got used to relying on the waiters more than the menu by now.

Inside. All religions & cultures displayed.

Tom Yum (sea food). Very good but spicy. Felt the spice reach my brain but i couldn't stop eating because it was tasty.

Neat cutlery.

Spring Rolls. Excellent and pure Thai.

Beef Salad. Again, too spicy although we warned them earlier about it. We couldn't enjoy it because of the spice but it tasted good.

Grilled Prawns. I was against this order because it looked like cockroaches in the menu. But we went for it and it was not bad. Regular grilled taste.

Crabs with oyster and ginger. Yummy. Well cooked.

Shrimps with cashew nuts. We were 5 people and they got us 5 shrimps. We barely got to taste it! But nice one..

We ordered Chicken Curry but they got us Shrimp Curry. We asked them to change it so they removed the shrimps and replaced them with chicken. We found a tail later and that's how we know. Anyhow, it tasted good because it didn't have strong coconut taste which i hate.

Beef with oyster sauce. It was surprisingly good. The beef is usually not so tender in those low class places but this was tender.

Sweet & Sour Chicken. Silly.

We ordered vegetable fried rice but they got us sea food rice!! It wasn't the usual fried rice we are used to. It was yellowish with herbal taste. I loved it.

Pad Thai Noodles. Again, we ordered it with vegetables only but they got it with SEA FOOD. Good taste but we got fed up with sea food by then.

The waitress didn't speak English at all but there was another guy who did the translation to her. After all those wrong orders we realized that his English was bad too!! I'd love to try their soup again with less spice and enjoy it to the max. The place was very clean and the price was fair for this big order. Each paid BD6.5. The food was tasty but the low rating was because of the three wrong orders. The atmosphere was not so nice too.
