Let's Thai it...Mission 1: Wang Thai

"Let's Thai it..." is a yummy project that we'll be working on for the coming few months. It's all about digging and discovering the small family owned Thai Restaurants in Bahrain. We have many of them around and the food is known to be excellent. They deserve more recognition. We'll be visiting and trying those restaurants on weekly basis. Last night we started with Wang Thai.

Location: Off Adliya Road. Infront of Bukhamas.
Group: Me, Sireen, Noor, Reem.
Overall Rating: 9/10

This is the entrance. It speaks what you're about to walk into.

The Menu. It was hard to select what to order, it's a big menu!

Inside. Lovely, original Thai atmosphere.

Thai Salad. I'm not a fan of their salads but the girls loved it.

Deep Fried Wanton (shrimp). It was good & the sauces tasted really good.

Shrimp Thai Toast. Excellent!

Deep Fried Crispy Beef. It was chewy, we didn't like it much.

Chicken Chili & Basil. Average.

Prawn Cashew nut. Very good.

Beef with Oyster Sauce. My favorite.

Vegetable Fried Rice. Delicious!

Chili Crab. Tasteful as it was mild and the sauce was extra amazing.

My plate after the battle with the crabs!

Ending the delicious meal with Chinese Tea. Fell in love with the tea set!

The bill. BD28.500 :) ..Fair enough for all the things we ordered.

To sum it up, we had a lovely experience and really enjoyed our time. We felt the Thai vibe and we wished that we were wearing loose t.shirts or beach clothes to really feel that we were in Thailand!! The place was busy with people from different nationalities who seemed to be loyal costumers and had good knowledge of the food and drinks. The service was very good and the waitresses were very friendly and easy to communicate with. The restaurant was very homey and it's most probably the home of the owners. One Thai lady was laying down on one of the chairs when i walked in, later on she was helping the waitresses serve food! Another waitress walked in carrying a nylon bag, she obviously walked to the cold store to buy whatever they ran out of!! It's that simple and easy. No need for food stocks or to contact the supplier or take permission from a franchisee. They are running their own show, their way!

We highly recommend this place.

Stay tuned for another Thai adventure next week :)
