Let's Thai it...Mission 2: Banana Leaf

Our 2nd mission to explore all the small and hidden Thai restaurants in Bahrain was in Banana Leaf.

Location: Adliya. (Bandaira side).
Group: Me, Eman, Noor, Reem.
Overall Rating: 5/10

The entrance. This yellow sign needs to be changed as it doesn't give you a good image about the place. It's much cheaper than what you're about to see.

A corner inside

Another corner. Loved the furniture. Modern Thai

Beautiful lights that they brought from Thailand. That's the whole place by the way. Yes, that small.

Papaya Salad. Average.

The Menu. I liked the size of their menu, not so big with so many items and not limited at the same time.

Tom Yum Soup (seafood). It was good. At first i felt that it was a bit "zafra" but then it kept on tasting better with every sip.

Left: Cheesy Shrimp Wrap. It was recommended by the waitress as one of their special starters. We expected it to be better but for some reason we couldn't taste the shrimp! Either because of the big amount of cheese in each wrap or because cheese and shrimps don't blend at first place!!. Right: Thai Toast. It was delicious. Probably the best thing i had that night.

Vegetable Fried Rice. Normal. It was oily and a bit heavy so i can't say that it was good.

Chicken Noodles. It was bad, we couldn't eat it. The sauce was too strong that we couldn't taste anything else in it.

Beef with oyster sauce. Very average.

Green Curry (chicken). This is something that i can't eat, but i tried it. It wasn't as strong as other curries that i can't even stand the way it smells. The girls liked it and they liked the idea of adding eggplants on top.

Lemon Grass Juice. In other words, cold lemon grass tea!

Total bill =  BD25.300

Loved this sign. Pull in Thai.

Some religious beliefs outside.

What made this place special is the funky decoration and the fact that it's owned by young Thai ladies. The food wasn't so traditional, they had their young touch on the dishes. It's worth a visit as it's a different experience, but i don't think that i'll go again. Didn't like the food. Home delivery is also available.
